Universe is an interactive engineering and science park, outside Nordborg, Denmark which teaches children and youths about Nature, Technology, and Humankind. The park was commissioned by the Danish Engineering Company Danfoss A/S to foster a love of science from a young age and inspire a new generation to study science and engineering.
Universe covers an area of 3.5 ha and features more than 150 interactive games. They cover themes including natural forces, hydropower, hydraulics, thermodynamics, mechanics and creativity. The park playfully conveys the scientific content through discovery and interaction. The attractions were developed on the basis of Howard Gardeners ideas of multiple human intelligences and appeal to a wide range of learning patterns. Some are designed to inspire team work, while others have competitive elements. The visual and spatial design of the park frames and supports the complex scientific themes and fosters a holistic and fascinating outing for the whole family.
